About Us

We started this webpage as two frustrated graduate students struggling to understand the complex world of 3D Slicer! Our objective is to bring together and present key concepts in 3D Slicer module development with a focus on image-guided interventions in a simple way. We hope that this blog will reduce the learning curve and eliminate the fear of development with 3D Slicer for beginners. We are members of the Virtual Augmentation and Simulation for Surgery and Therapy (VASST) lab at Robarts Research Institute at Western University. This lab focuses on developing virtual and augmented reality image guidance system to complement the traditional surgical field of view with additional information. Most of our software development for these systems is done using 3D Slicer because of its great community support and readily available tools and modules that can be used and built upon.
